Alaina, fair haired maiden of the sea,
She shimmies through the waves in pursuit of a catch,
Behind a school of fish, in vain they flee,
Extends her hand to seize one in her grasp.
๐
The surface breaks her head emerged she shakes,
Her blonde locks free and sprays the salty foam,
Flips her tail, she spies a rock and makes,
Toward its face her breakfast soon to own.
๐
Alaina, fair haired creature of the sea,
Who coils her tail and sits where none can see,
The mist of morn enshrouding her from view,
Of artists who would make of her a statue.
๐
On mackerel she feasts and when sheโs done,
Slips back to the olive brine from whence sheโd come.

This is really beautiful, and calls to mind a book called โThe Professor and The Sirenโ.
I donโt know that book.๐
